Called to Care 3rd Ed. Releasing Soon

By Judy Shelly, Arlene Miller, Kimberly Fenstermacher

How does what we believe about God and the world affect the nursing care we provide? Is there a relationship between the way a society understands the nature of God and the type of health care that develops in that society? These are important questions for us to consider.

In the Christian worldview, the nursing metaparadigm begins with God. God created the world (environment) and everything in it. God created human beings (persons) and placed them within his created environment, to live in shalom (health). This kind of health allows the person to live at peace in a God-centered human community with a sense of physical, psychosocial and spiritual well-being. Nursing, then, works toward wholeness, or shalom among individuals and the community.

NCF Twin Cities Nurses Week Celebration

Nurses Make a Difference: Taking Time to Remember, Reflect, and Renew

The American Nurses Association’s theme for National Nurses Month is Nurses Make a Difference. Our profession has experienced significant change, stress, loss, and trauma in this past year. We’ve also learned new things about ourselves, asked difficult questions in our own faith journeys, and recognized the value of community.

Join NCF Twin Cities on May 11 at 8 pm Eastern / 7 pm Central / 6 pm Mountain / 5 pm Pacific as we take time to remember, reflect, and renew our purpose for the work we have been called to do. Register at Nurses Make a Difference. (Free 1.5 hours of continuing education for Minnesota nurses only. Others will receive a certificate of attendance.)
