Journal of Christian Nursing

hands"Nursing has been discussing spiritual care as long as I can remember," says Verna Benner Carson. "Yet confusion remains regarding what spiritual care entails."

JCN EditorSpiritual care is a critical component of holistic, compassionate nursing. The Journal of Christian Nursing is committed to helping nurses grow in their understanding of spirituality and ability to provide spiritual care.

The Journal of Christian Nursing was honored with two design awards by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE).

shipLike a sailor on treacherous seas, a person with Parkinson's Disease deals with unpredictability on a daily basis. Devastating and debilitating, PD creates a stormy journey for those trying to navigate daily life.

NCF at NSNAThank you for your prayers for the JCN and NCF outreach at the Lippincott booth April 6-10. I talked with hundreds of students (yes... hundreds!), distributed around 400 journals and gave away 400 flyers showcasing Journal of Christian Nursing and Nurses Christian Fellowship.

NCF at NSNANSNA Update #2:

Kathy at NSNA 2011God was already working on the way to NSNA! My seatmate on the plane to Salt Lake City was a nursing student who was chosen to do a session at NSNA. What an honor for an undergraduate! She will talk about becoming the professional you want to be, including values and spirituality. She is a Christian and was excited to learn about NCF and JCN.

A close friend of Jesus had been dead four days when he asked Lazarus' sister, Martha, to open the tomb (see John 11). She knew the risks were great – along with the odor.

Pray this week for Kathy Schoonover-Shoffner, JCN editor, as she talks with nursing students and represents NCF and JCN April 6 – 10 at the 2011 National Student Nurses Association annual convention in Salt Lake City, UT. Ask God for conversations with students that will reflect his heart for healing and wholeness.
