"This could only be God!" thought Renee Lick as she stepped into the sunlit room to speak on spiritual care to more than 220 nursing students and faculty. Renee’s workshop, “Caring for the Spiritual Needs of our Patients,” was sponsored by the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Morgan Hennessey is a former NCF student leader with big dreams. She is planning a special seminar October 7-9, 2013 for healthcare students and professionals in the NY/NJ area to raise awareness and fight human trafficking.
During a clinical rotation, nursing student Erika Hellstrom had a patient in failing health and preparing for palliative care, but his wife told Erica, “God gives us all a purpose and mine is taking care of him.”
Students facing final exams are stressed this time of year, so no one knew how many nursing students would come to the last NCF meeting at Wichita State University. Surprisingly, 17 students and 9 teachers arrived for the final luncheon gathering.
Giggling. As I listened to handoff report, I finally deciphered the sound coming from one of my patient’s rooms. She was giggling. “Curious,” I thought, and turned my attention back to my co-worker.
