March 2024 Prayer and Praise Calendar

Week One:

  • March 1 – Pray for open doors for the Gospel with nurses and that “the message may be given to us when we open our mouths to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel.”  (Ephesians 6:19)
  • March 2 – Pray for wisdom, discernment, and encouragement for Kathy Schoonover-Shoffner as she balances numerous responsibilities within Nurses Christian Fellowship and the Journal of Christian Nursing.

 

Week Two:

  • March 3 – We thank God for the community that’s a part of our nurse groups. Pray for our nurse groups to continue to be safe places for students, faculty, and nurses. We lift up our Sunday night prayer group times and ask God to use this time to draw us into deeper intimacy with you, God.
  • March 4 – Pray for the healing of Skip McDonald (InterVarsity’s Spiritual Formation Specialist to campuses in the Southeast) following complications after her left foot surgery.
  • March 5 – Pray for the Journal of Christian Nursing’s editorial board as they meet with JCN staff this afternoon to discuss ways in which the journal can be kept relevant and a vital resource for students, faculty, and nurses across the country in connecting their faith and nursing practice.
  • March 6 – Pray for current leaders and for new leaders within NCF’s ministry to go out and be a part of the harvest and work Jesus has called for us to do. (Luke 10:2)
  • March 7 – Please celebrate with us and lift up by name these campuses that are planting new student NCF chapters: Columbia International University, Lake Superior State University, Concordia University in St. Paul, John Brown University, Connors State College, and Kilgore College.
  • March 8 – Pray for wisdom, strength, and insight for the faculty at the University of Maryland as they continue to invest in this next generation of nursing students.
  • March 9 – Pray for NCF staff who are dealing with difficult family situations. We ask God to give us the strength and wisdom we need in each moment.

 

Week Three:

  • March 10 – We give God thanks for our newest NCF professional nurse group that’s centered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Give wisdom and discernment to Valentina Cvrk as she leads. May God use this group to support the faith of nurses within the Research Triangle.
  • March 11 – Pray for our local and virtual NCF gatherings to go well and for any glitches with schedules and technology to be easily managed.
  • March 12 – Pray for clear communication and deep connections as Skip McDonald leads a seminar on soul care at the Southeast Black Student Conference.
  • March 13 – Please celebrate with us and lift up by name these campuses that are planting new student NCF chapters: Austin Peay State University – Clarksville (Main), Gordon State College, Cornerstone University, Hampton University, Western Dakota Technical Institute, and American University of Health Science.
  • March 14 – The Christian Community Health Fellowship (CCHF) conference begins today and lasts through March 16 in Covington, Kentucky. Pray for the conference and those who will be attending.  This domestic medical missions conference is designed for people who see healthcare as a calling and are committed to missional, faith-driven healthcare here in the United States.
  • March 15 – We are grateful for the service, work, insight, and encouragement Kris Mauk has given as the Senior Editor of the Journal of Christian Nursing. May she continue to experience the blessings of God as she serves her family and the students at Colorado Christian University.
  • March 16 – Pray for financial and prayer partners for the ministry of NCF and for its staff who raise their financial support. (I Timothy 5:18)

 

Week Four:

  • March 17 – Pray for wisdom, discernment, connection, and restoration in the healing groups that Skip McDonald is facilitating with students.
  • March 18 – Pray for the many details both big and small to come together as nurses from around the globe gather for the Nurses Christian Fellowship International’s World Congress in Spain in June 23-30, 2024.
  • March 19 – Pray for wisdom in discerning where our needs are for any potential new hires within the Journal of Christian Nursing.
  • March 20 – We lift up the nursing students, student leaders, and faculty of the NCF student group at Georgia Perimeter College.
  • March 21 – Please celebrate with us and lift up by name these campuses that are planting new student NCF chapters: Arizona State University – Downtown Phoenix, Colorado Mesa University, Louisiana Tech University, Baylor University – Waco Campus, University of Sioux Falls, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Mercy College.
  • March 22 – Ask God to prepare all the students, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for their time with God and his people at the Texas NCF retreat – Joy in his Presence. The retreat begins today and lasts until March 24. Pray that Nicole, the speaker, will have good health and experience God’s peace as she shares the message he has given her, and pray for safety and times of renewal for all the participants. Thank God for this wonderful opportunity to be away from the stresses of everyday life and to focus on time alone with him and in fellowship with others who want to serve him with their whole lives.
  • March 23 – As we look forward and prepare for Holy Week, may we never forget that on our good days as well as our bad ones, we are not alone. We serve a Jesus who is with us each step of the way.

 

Week Five:

  • March 24 – Join us in praying strategically today for NCF Student’s Ministries “24 in 2024” outreach as they ask God for 24 new NCF student groups in 2024.
  • March 25 – Many nurses, students, and faculty are struggling in their roles. Pray that each would know and accept God’s perfect will for them professionally.
  • March 26 – We ask for God’s presence among nurse group leaders who gather this evening for a time of connection, networking, Bible study, and prayer. Guide our discussion and give us insight as we support students, faculty, and nurses across the country.
  • March 27 – Continue to pray for nurses around the country who are tired, weary, and facing staff shortages and a lack of resources in their work environments. May they be reminded of God’s presence in their lives and that they are not alone in the challenges they face. May NCF be used in their lives to be a support and encouragement in their faith and their practice.
  • March 28 – Praise God for the continuing conversations that are happening with the NCF Podcast - Following Jesus in Nursing! We ask God to use this outreach in amazing ways in the lives of students, faculty, and nurses.
  • March 29 – “It is finished.” The sacrifice has been made. The debt has been paid. We walk in freedom because of Jesus.
  • March 30 – Pray for wisdom, vision, and discernment in Skip McDonald’s role as Spiritual Formation Specialist in the Southeast United States. May God use her in tremendous ways in the lives of students, faculty, and InterVarsity staff.

 

Week Six:

  • March 31 – We pray our hearts will forever keep the miracle and gift of Easter alive. May the greatest sacrifice made for our mistakes never be taken for granted. We celebrate the risen Jesus in all that we are!
