Now is the time to start thinking about next year’s leadership for your group. The beginning of the new semester is a great time for current leaders to mentor next year's leaders. What does this look like?

  • First, see who might be interested in a leadership role or who you might approach that as leadership qualities. Have them complete a leadership application.
  • Share with new leaders everything you wished someone had told you. Describe your responsibilities by writing them in a notebook for future leaders.
  • Brainstorm as a team about ideas for the coming year.
  • Have the mentee shadow you during the semester to learn the role.

Good communication now, including answering questions, can make the leadership transition go smoothly in the fall.
