Did you know that NCF does adoptions? Last year, NCF’s Student Ministry and Professional Ministry teamed up to offer support to NCF student chapters who were doing ministry on campus during the pandemic. Student groups could sign up to be "adopted" by a professional group that would pray for and support them! Here’s how one of those adoptions, led by NCF staff Karen Bergquist, experienced God’s presence.
"When NCF asked for volunteers to take on 1-2 student nurse groups to pray for during the school year, our local NCF nurse group took up the challenge!” Karen explained. “We’ve prayed regularly for two student groups, adding them to our monthly prayer list and also praying during our monthly gathering. I email the student leaders periodically, asking for updated requests and to encourage them. They’re always so grateful and tell how God is blessing their group.”
“We also direct students and faculty to the NCF website for Bible study resources and other helpful info. I’ve given them my phone number to call, and as a result, one faculty advisor and I interact regularly on issues she faces with the students, and we pray together. I believe that it’s a blessing for both of us. I highly encourage all NCF nurse groups to consider being a regular prayer supporter for a student group. I know that God will bless them and you, as you support the next generation of nurses in this way.”
Vicki, Karen’s “adopted” faculty, says: "Ultimately, I look at her as my spiritual accountability partner to stay engaged with NCF on the student level. We can get so caught up in teaching and academia that we forget there are students who would benefit from NCF and you need to keep reaching out. The greatest benefit has been the prayer support. I have seen positive things because of the prayer.”
