Devotional: God is Present with Us

God so often uses the unexpected to remind us that he is there. One day, I found myself walking the floor with my youngest granddaughter in my arms. She was tired and needed some “extra” attention. As I carried her in my arms holding her close, I began to softly sing these words to her:

Jesus, Jesus…remind us of your presence.

Jesus, Jesus… remind us of your presence.

As I sang to her, I remembered a verse that speaks of God’s singing over us. Maybe you’re in a place where you need “extra” attention. My prayer for each of us is that we allow God to speak to us through the words of this Scripture. May we recognize and claim his presence in our lives. May the hurt, brokenness, isolation, and uncertainty we experience be quieted by his love. And may we hear the song he sings over us.

The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3: 17, ESV

Remind us of your presence, Jesus.

Amen.
