In July 2018, Christy joined NCF's staff to become the Professional Ministries Director where she provided support and leadership to our nurse group leaders. In addition, she is a contributing editor for Journal of Christian Nursing. Now in July 2024, Christy has transitioned to the role of Spiritual Formation and Prayer Specialist where she’ll be able to listen, provide space, and prayer as she encourages students, faculty, and nurses in the challenges they face.
Vision
Nursing is one of the most challenging and yet rewarding professions created. We teach, conduct research, and interact with patients, residents, families, and communities throughout their lifespan. We advocate, educate, support, and care. Nurses serve from a place of giving; many nurses feel called to this profession.
Nurses Christian Fellowship is uniquely situated to support the work of our profession. In my personal prayer time, I asked God how I should be leading. His answer was clear – it’s about relationship. As I meditated on this, three aspects of relationship developed:
- We have relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the source of our strength, our foundation, and is with us in every moment of our lives.
- We have relationship with each other. We need each other. We were made for community. We are stronger together when we work as a team and support each other.
- We have relationship with those we serve. We celebrate the successes of our work and recognize times when our work can leave us drained or empty.
How can we be better connected? Renewed? How can NCF be a part of this process?
The Bible says, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:12).
I am excited to see God lead as we come together from our diverse places of practice to deepen relationships and better serve our patients, each other, and Him. I invite you to be a part of this process.

Personal
I am married and live in northeastern Wisconsin. We have two sons, a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, two cats, and an adorable Morkie who keeps us all in line. It brings me joy to experience the beauty of nature through the songs of birds, a fallen pinecone, or a shiny rock. My windowsills are filled with these treasures!
God continues to teach me more about what it means to walk in intimacy with him. These lessons come through the joys and losses of life. In 2020, my husband was diagnosed with multiple forms of dementia. Walking this journey with him has had its highs and lows. But God has shown great mercy and comfort during these months through the prayers and encouragement of others. It's been a beautiful example of the body of Christ responding to provide presence and support... a way of life I want to offer in kind to others.
