Mission Statement
Westmont Downtown Grotenhuis Nursing prepares faithful servant leaders to provide patient-centered and family supported safe, compassionate care for diverse populations and communities across the lifespan and in all health care settings.
Program Distinctives
The Westmont Downtown Grotenhuis Nursing Program is located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. The two downtown buildings feature a high-fidelity simulation lab, two state-of-the-art skills labs, a team-based learning environment, and progressive healthcare facilities to support an accelerated nursing program.
While in the program, nursing students participating in the mission trip program will have the opportunity to learn and work abroad while serving in various countries, including the Philippines, Mexico, and India. They will also work alongside multiple community partners, including See International, the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission, and the Santa Barbara Food Bank.
Mission/Service-Learning Opportunities
4th-semester students will partner with See International to provide vision eye care to underserved areas of the community. Students will also volunteer with the Santa Barbara Food Bank and the local Rescue Mission.
