Start planning now for National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2014.
The ANA announced this year’s theme, Nurses Leading the Way. Though National Nurses Week is still a few months away, you can start planning now to have a brunch, banquet, prayer walk, or other special event to share God’s love with other nurses.
Discuss with your group or form a committee to plan an event. Decide what is do-able for a speaker, food, facility, or advertising. Will this be an event that is seeker-friendly? Pray about what God will have you do. This is a great way to fulfill your group’s purpose of reaching out to others in the nursing community.
NCF will again provide a theme-related Bible study guide and prayer guide for you to use. We will send these resources in the next issue of Vital Signs.
Are there nurse educators in your NCF group? Because they have limitless opportunities to influence the knowledge-base and character of future leaders in nursing, NCF has compiled resources to provide networking opportunities with other faculty, to encourage the pursuit of Christian scholarship, and to provide resources, support and spiritual inspiration for their journey in academia. Please share these resources with the members of your group.
NCF member Dr. Barbara White, RN, CNS, is a world-changer in healthcare education. “NCF has been a life-line throughout my entire nursing career,” she shared with more than 1,300+ InterVarsity and NCF staff at their national conference. In this video, she talks about the mysteries of God’s calling, teaching nursing as ministry, and serving nurses around the world. Barbara is the President of NCF-International and the Dean of Nursing and Sciences at Colorado Christian University. Watch her inspiring video testimony.
InterVarsity Press is offering three study sessions from three different LifeGuide® Bible Studies as stand-alone "dollar downloads." Each covers a different Bible passage related to Lent or Easter:
Triumphal Entry focuses on Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem in the midst of public acclamation.
Each study features the inductive Bible study method, a workbook format and leader's notes. And each study is available with a single-user license for just $1 or with a two-to-ten-user license for just $2.49!
Bonus: On the description page for each "dollar download" you'll also find two free PDFs: a general introduction from the original full-length study and a leader's introduction that includes tips for preparing and leading a Bible study as well as an overview of small group structure.
As a group leader, please encourage everyone in your group to join the NCF professional organization and become a member of NCF. For nurses who are already subscribing to the Journal of Christian Nursing, an NCF membership is exceptional value.
May God grant you grace and peace in your nursing journey.
