Faculty Advisor Responsibilities and Benefits

Student and AdvisorYour role as Faculty Advisor is a stabilizing influence for the NCF chapter in your school of nursing. Your guidance provides your NCF chapter with continuity for the future, so thank you for helping to create and provide a space for nursing students to encounter Jesus!

Responsibilities

Below is a list of typical Faculty Advisor responsibilities. Depending on your school context, some of these responsibilities may be more or less critical. You may also choose to share these responsibilities among several Faculty Advisors. We encourage you to review this list annually.

  • Mentoring and Advising Leaders
    • Ensure NCF leaders have the resources they need for chapter leadership
    • Troubleshoot key challenges with chapter leaders and encourage them in their personal spiritual growth
  • Liaison with School of Nursing
    • Assist with access to resources such as room and table reservations, announcement emails to nursing school, etc.
    • Maintain student organization status with school (as applicable)
  • Leadership Development and Transitions
    • Assist student leaders in developing Apprentices (leaders-in-training)
    • Ensure smooth handoff between outgoing and incoming leadership teams
  • Liaison with NCF National Movement
    • Ensure chapter remains “in good standing” with NCF by completing these four annual expectations
    • Review NCF communications and encourage graduating students to join NCF as a professional member
