Fall 2016

Dear NCF Ministry Partner,

This is my first letter to you as the new Director of Nurses Christian Fellowship. I am honored, humbled, excited—and a bit terrified—as together we launch a new season of NCF ministry.

Here’s why I’m excited. As another school year takes off for thousands of nursing students, we know many are seeking answers for the longing in their hearts to know God. Colleen was one of those students who discovered a deeper relationship with God through NCF:

Colleen was not raised in a Christian family. In nursing school Colleen began asking, “What is Christianity?” She got involved in a Bible study with Nurses Christian Fellowship on her campus.

Eventually Colleen realized she wasn’t living life in a way that pleased God. “I needed to put Jesus first and make the hard decision to give up an intimate relationship,” Colleen admitted. “It was the first time I understood that Christianity is about Christ—the real person of Jesus!”

Last year more than 1500 nursing students actively pursued spiritual development through NCF ministry. At least 20 students decided to place their faith in Christ.

NewsI’m also thrilled to announce we have hired a new Student Ministries Director, Timothy Lin. “I am excited to join the NCF team this fall!” Tim said. “The team has already been dreaming together about how God can expand NCF’s influence in more nursing schools, and we can’t wait to see what God will do! Pray with us for Christ’s direction, insight and creativity as we develop a greater impact on campus by resourcing NCF student leaders, faculty advisors, and InterVarsity staff and volunteers!”

A final exhilarating note: God is opening doors to influence the nursing profession! A few weeks ago I co-led a symposium bringing together nurse leaders from across the country to explore Transforming Moral Distress into Moral Resilience. The American Journal of Nursing, Johns Hopkins University, and Journal of Christian Nursing cosponsored the conference. We will be publishing the proceedings in early 2017. I spoke from a Christian worldview with national leaders from prominent nursing organizations and educational institutions. God is on the move!

Will you help launch more NCF groups with student leaders who embrace God’s life-giving purposes for their campus? Will you support the growing influence of NCF in nursing? As we lift off this year, we ask for your prayer and financial support to sustain the future of NCF ministry.

It’s going to be an exciting year ahead. We invite you to share the journey with us!

Kathy
