Good Measure

Jessica Harper • NCF Marketing and Communications Manager

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38 (ESV)

Giving is hard, isn’t it? Whether it’s giving of my time or my treasure, it isn’t always easy for me to choose sacrificial generosity. There are things on my agenda that I want completed and items on my wish list I want purchased, sans interruption or delay.

But, as a Christian, the Lord has called me to give and tells me “good measure” will be put into my life in return. “Good measure” can mean a lot of different things but one of my favorite experiences is the joy in knowing that I have been a good steward of God’s provision by blessing others.

Is God calling you to bless others through NCF? We would be honored to have your financial support. Your tax-deductible gifts support ministry to nurses and nursing students; allow our staff team to create Bible studies, spiritual care and mental health resources; develop Christian community on nursing school campuses and amongst practicing nurses nationwide; publish the Journal of Christian Nursing, which is the only Christian professional publication for nurses in the world; and more!

God multiplies the gifts we cheerfully give to his mission. Last year we were able to establish NCF student groups at 21 new nursing schools and we have 7 more schools in process that are on hold because of COVID-19. With a total of 140 student groups--most of which are at non-Christian, secular nursing programs, we can clearly see God growing NCF campus ministry!

Our professional nurse ministry is also experiencing growth. We are now up to 42 nurse groups with regular requests to start up new groups. Did you know nurses are the largest group of healthcare providers? Many are serving on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19; we are blessed to provide resources for them to know Jesus more deeply and help them to commune together virtually. This is where your gifts are being used. Would you give generously and taste the good measure that the Lord has for you? Thank you for considering donating to NCF.

Racial Reconciliation

Only God can heal and reconcile us to one another, so we pray for ourselves and for wounded nurses of color for whom we desire wholeness and with whom we seek godly reconciliation. Read “A Prayer for Racial Healing” on the NCF blog and allow God to speak his truth to you on this topic.

NCF LIVE

NCF LIVE is a nationwide event to encourage and catalyze ministry for Fall 2020. We are gathering nursing students for a night of worship, testimonies and focus on self-care as a nursing student in these unprecedented times by entering into rest and renewal in Jesus.

While the night is geared towards students, everyone is welcome to tune in and join us for breakouts following the large group at our afterparty. Know a nursing student? Invite them! To register, email ncf@intervarsity.org.

Christy Secor RN, DNP, CDWF • NCF Professional Ministries Director

How do we respond to the changes and loss we’ve experienced? What is God trying to teach us through the challenges we face? Do we listen or do we push through our list of “to do’s” missing both the lesson and the blessing?

Jesus Christ has a message of hope for each of us as we begin to recognize the sacredness, beauty, and holiness in the everyday things we do. Our lives are filled with sacred moments. Do we see them? Read on as Christy describes the hope we each can have in all we do.
