Go and Tell

Matthew 11:3-5 “ They asked Jesus, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” 4 And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

Waiting is hard! I have a hard time waiting for a pizza to cook, let alone waiting for something for 400 years. This is how long the people of God waited for their promised king (called the Messiah). When Jesus came, the people of God were not sure he was that person. They asked Jesus if he was the “one to come”. Jesus answered them not with a “yes” or a “no”, but with a command to go and tell what they see and hear. That is how the people of God would know if he was their king, by what they saw Jesus do. Jesus would bring healing and restoration wherever he went. Jesus was and is the ultimate caregiver. To explore Jesus being our caregiver, check out the resource below!

A Natural Opportunity for Outreach: Self-Care

As we think about reaching new students this fall, what have you seen Jesus do in your life? What are the stories of healing and restoration you can share with other nursing students to point them to Jesus? Sharing your faith can be scary, but when we share openly and honestly about our lives, including about Jesus, people are genuinely interested.

Try it this fall if your chapter has not gone through the Caregiver Bible Study Series. At the end of the study, there is an invitation you can make to your group to take the next step with Jesus. If your group has never made this invitation with Jesus, reach out to us–we would love to coach you! We also have postcards and posters you can use to invite students to join your 4-week study. Email Jen at jen.wojtysiak@intervarsity.org to get a Caregiver packet!

Clarifying Our Vision

We have exciting news to share! While NCF has always been about seeing students and nurses know and follow Jesus in nursing; it’s now official! Our vision is: Seeing students and nurses know and follow Jesus in nursing. You are a huge part of that vision! Thank you for the ways you live this every day. By leading a group on campus you fulfill our mission to uniquely transform the nursing profession through: Biblically grounded communities, effective faith-sharing, and comprehensive resources that support integrated whole-person care for and by the nurse. As your groups study the Bible, create a community of prayer, and develop as faith sharers you join the 125+ groups across the country doing the same thing! You are part of a movement transforming nursing with the good news of Jesus! Thank you!
