Mission Statement

The mission of the College of Nursing at Northwest Nazarene University is to provide a quality nursing education and prepare nurses who excel in clinical practice by providing patient and family-centered care in the context of Christ-like behavior.

Accreditations

  • Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Colleges of Distinction
  • The Princeton Review
  • Idaho State Board of Nursing

Program Distinctives

  • In our pre-licensure program, NNU has moved to a holistic admission process, meaning we look at the abilities and characteristics of success of the student and not just the GPA.
  • Rolling admissions for RN to BSN and MSN Leadership and Education tracks instead of set deadlines for fall and spring classes, where students can begin either program within 30 days of enrollment.
  • High-fidelity simulation models (NNU is adding two new models!)
  • Students enrolled in our RN to BSN online program can begin their MSN online program while completing their final RN to BSN courses, giving them a "quick start" to graduate school.
  • Adding a part-time track to our FNP program for students who desire an FNP degree, but must keep working and need a slower pace toward completion.

Mission/Service-Learning Opportunities

Tanzania is a regular mission destination for all nursing students (this includes our FNP's) and we are evaluating a mission trip to South America.
