God is moving in Florida nursing schools

Florida nursing students

"I love teaching nursing students that one of our greatest ministries is simply being present with others who need to know they are not alone," says Renee Lick, NCF Student Ministry Director. "NCF students around the country are learning that simply being present with another person is a reminder of God's abiding presence in times of illness, grief or difficulty."

Last week Renee traveled to south Florida to lead a workshop for area students and nurses on the Biblical principles of spiritual care and how to assess spiritual needs and respond with appropriate interventions. One attendee said the training session "re-empowered me to listen to the Spirit." A student reported, "This has renewed my strength and has given me the B12 shot to complete the program."

Bethany is a nursing student who is starting a new NCF chapter at Florida State University in Tallahassee. They just had their first Bible study and a potluck dinner that attracted 20 students who heard the gospel message and learned about opportunities to serve overseas. Praise God for Bethany's boldness in sharing her faith with her friends.

Pray for more NCF students and faculty who are excited about being part of God's mission at the University of South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, Edison State College and Florida State University. God's Spirit is moving at nursing schools in Florida!

Annamay, I'm glad you found the NCF blog to share about your loneliness as a Christian nurse in CT. You are not alone in your situation. To provide encouragement to nurses like yourself, NCF developed the Google Nurse Discussion Group to provide a forum for Q & A, sharing prayer requests and discussion topics to strengthen ourselves spiritually. I think what you've posted here would be really appropriate to share there, as you may have more responses from others in a similar situation. You can learn more at http://www.ncf-jcn.org/nurse/nrglssubscribe.php. Another good place to post would be NCF's facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/ncfnurses, as there might be more nurses who'd read and respond. Know that I'm praying for you right now.

As a Christian nurse in the state of CT I feel very solitary in my views re abortion and euthanasia. Seems a very lonely quest to keep myself balanced and true to my religious beliefs. I have turned away former friends? who have abandoned God. I am eager to hear from more Christian nurses. No support in state of CT. Annamay Sperazza

Lyndee, I'm sorry, but we will not have a booth at NTI. We do not have the funds or personnel at this time to be present at most professional conferences. Thanks for asking!

So encouraged by this post. Thanks for sharing. Stay on God's path.

Do you have a contact student @ Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida? I work as Critical Care Rn at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. I was an NCF-Philippines Staff worker for a year, I can help. :)

Right now we don't have any student contacts at Florida Atlantic. The nearest student campus ministry is at Palm Beach Atlantic University. I'm thankful you would be willing to work with student ministry in the area. If you are interested in learning more about how to start a nurse or student chapter in your area, please email me directly at bhann@intervarsity.org and I'll share more resources with you.

Will you have a booth at NTI? The AACN National Teaching Institute that takes place in Orlando Florida May 19-24?
