Sprouting Student Groups

One of the “harvests” we’ve seen this fall is stories of how God is working on campuses with nursing students, faculty members, and student groups. I was recently given the image of planting student chapters as being like the preparation that goes into a housing development.

Before houses go up and communities grow, basic foundations and substructures have to be planned and laid. Last year was tough during the pandemic, trying to get groups to meet and have genuine connections without being in person...faculty were so stretched they just could not add more to their plate...not knowing what was coming next...but we prayed for God to keep the foundations strong and prepare for future growth, and He has!

Here’s a sampling of the fruit that we’re seeing as NCF chapters have came back onto campuses this fall, some even stronger than before! We praise God for these growing groups and students.

“I joined NCF because I knew my heart and my journey needed it. I’ve been wanting to strengthen my relationship with God and with others, but I’ve been so hesitant and in the dark. I’m thankful that this group found me at the perfect time!” –a nursing student at William Jewell College

“I’m thankful for the NCF devotionals. I use these prior to class and clinical to start the day focused on God. NCF devotionals engage with topics the students can relate to and guide them to bring God into their nursing practice.” –NCF faculty advisor at Crown College.

We’re thankful for prayers of nurses and NCF supporters—these prayers have opened doors that we may not have expected.

And we’re grateful to God for each person who’s given to support our work among students and faculty nationwide. Funds enable us to equip student leaders and faculty advisors with resources to build spiritually healthy communities on the foundations that prayer and God’s direction have set.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Katharine Provost is an NCF campus staff minister, interacting with students and faculty all over the U.S. to help grow faith-based communities that produce spiritually strong followers of Jesus Christ.
