Barbara White, President of NCF International (NCFI), traveled to the PACEA (Pacific East Asia) region. Barbara spoke to nurses, faculty, and students in Taiwan and Korea, and in Manila she joined other NCFI leaders to teach at the regional conference sponsored by Health Care Fellowship International (HCFI). This international partnership is a first for NCFI!

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings and joy today as you serve Him in nursing! I have just returned from two weeks in PACEA and want to give you an update on what we experienced and the exciting opportunities that are before us in NCFI.
A team of five NCFI leaders were invited to Manila, Philippines to participate in and teach at the HCFI World Conference September 4-9, 2011. Tove Giske (Norway) lead the team consisting of Swee Eng Goh (Singapore) and Carrie Dameron (USA). They taught a twelve hour "Train the Trainer" course in the Art and Science of Spiritual Care. Amy Rex Smith (USA) could not travel at this time but was also instrumental in helping to develop the material. The team taught four days – three hours each afternoon – to a group of 55 nurses, physicians, chaplains, social workers and healthcare providers. The feedback was extremely positive. In addition Sue Allen (England) taught the Ethics of Evangelism in a Pluralistic Society in the Ethics track and I taught Mentoring, Followership, Teambuilding and Conflict Resolution in the Leadership track. Sue and I also had about 50 participants in our afternoon training sessions.
The HCHI World Conference had over 600 participants from 87 countries – an amazing experience for all who attended. Partner organizations included International Health Services (IHS), International Christian Medical and Dental Association (ICMDA), PRIME, and METNA – a collaborative partnership forming in the Middle East Turkey and North Africa.
While in Manila, the team met with NCF Philippines for an evening of food, fellowship, worship and sharing. Each IB member spoke on the topic of Excellent Nurses Toward Global Transformation. We received many blessings through the joyful spirits and serving hearts of the Philippine nurses.
I had the privilege of meeting with NCF Taiwan and NCF Korea as I traveled. In Taiwan, I met with Christian Deans and Nursing school directors and taught on the topic of Called to Teach. What an honor to meet and pray with these outstanding NCF leaders who are making a difference in their countries and around the world.
Our partnership collaboration with HCFI, PRIME and ICMDA are now providing an opportunity for NCFI to teach 400 medical and nursing students in Ukraine the last weekend in October. Tove Giske has willingly accepted this invitation. Please pray for her as she prepares her lecture and as she ministers to these future leaders in healthcare.
We are eager to have many others of you join us in teaching and projects as we work together to bring the good news of Jesus to the profession of nursing. Please let us know of your willing interest and your expertise. We are starting a professional competence database to identify your expertise so that we can contact you when future opportunity arises. Thank you for your prayers, words of encouragement and the special gifts and talents you each provide to NCFI.
Ephesians 1:4
May you be Blessed by God today
Barbara
