In the nursing world, we fight against disease so people can flourish with healing and health. These things are important as long as we're breathing -- but what then?
When disease and death destroy our bodies, we have the eternal hope of bodily resurrection made possible by Jesus, our Lord and Creator of all. Therefore, we confidently sing with Handel's Messiah this promise of resurrection from Job hundreds of years before the first Easter morning at the tomb in Jerusalem:
"I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth, and though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God . . ." (Job 19:25-26 KJV).
May God give you a hopeful heart, a faithful spirit, and joy in his presence this Easter.
