Credentials that define us

signatureWhat letters do you have behind your name? It may be RN, ADN, MSN, BSN, PhD, CCRN or DE. Credentials help others identify our educational preparation, our accomplishments and our professional status. But they don't define who we really are.

Sometimes we allow feelings of inferiority, inadequacy or defeat define us. We can be easily hurt by what others say or do to us, or we're unable to break away from the hurts of the past. These are just feelings; they don't define who we really are.

Our real "credentials" come from God who declares that "we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works" (Ephesians 2:10). As his children, we are his special creation, fully adequate and worthy to serve Him. Rather than allowing negative emotions to define you, take on these life-giving credentials that enable you to experience his joy and peace. Each day, spend a few minutes in his Word to discover who you really are!
