8:45 AM - 3:30 PM (Registration & Continental Breakfast start at 8:15am)
This program will help participants describe how Christianity has influenced compassionate care as a value in nursing and how they as healthcare professionals can provide compassionate care.
Presented by Dr. Beverly Schaefer who learned the art of providing compassionate care and spiritual support while practicing in various clinical settings, including a Level 1 trauma unit, and while teaching nursing students both in Ohio and West Virginia and Dr. Marilyn Weitzel who has provided spiritual care to both patients and students. She explains that the best way to teach others to provide spiritual care is through role modeling. The presenters will incorporate Judith Shelly's video on Compassionate Care into their presentations.
This event will be held at the MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, OH. CE is being offered by Greater Cleveland Nurses Christian Fellowship; the program has been approved for 5.16 contact hours by the Ohio Board of Nursing through the approver unit at the Ohio League for Nursing (OBN-006-92).
