Fall 2015 Prayer and Praise Guide

Jane HallSPECIAL REQUEST from Jane Hall:

Friends, it’s time to plan for my retirement at the close of this ministry year, June 2016. It has been a joy to serve as the NCF National Director. Be assured that my passion for the purposes and people of NCF remain unchanged as I anticipate continuing to serve in a volunteer role.

PLEASE PRAY for us in the search for the next NCF Director! Pass the word along to those who may be interested in the position and contact us if you know of a good candidate to lead NCF forward.

We know that NCF is in God’s hands, now and always, we look forward to how he will provide for all that we need. To God be the Glory!

NATIONAL MINISTRY

Ask God to provide a new NCF Director and a Student Ministries Director who can develop groups of nurses and students who love God and share his love with others on campus and in nursing. The Student Ministries Director is a critical national role to lead staff and students in planting and growing NCF on campus. We covet your prayers for God to provide the right persons for both of these roles.

Thank God for 1500+ nurses and students who have joined the NCF professional organization. Pray that these NCF members will know God’s love and mercy as they apply biblical principles to their educational and work experiences.

“Becoming an Alzheimer’s Whisperer” is the seminar topic for nurses on September 25 in Lexington, MA. Pray for Dr. Verna Carlson as she teaches on managing challenging behaviors with love and gentleness.

Pray for the Cleveland Area NCF Seminar on October 3rd in Ohio. Ask the Lord for guidance, strength, and peace as Marilyn, Christine and Malinda prepare their presentations on “Spiritual Nursing Care for Vulnerable Populations.”

STUDENTS & FACULTY

Pray for NCF student leaders and faculty advisors to cast vision and structure their group in ways that will impact their campus for Christ.

New Student OutreachPray that many nursing students will become involved in a Bible study through the outreach efforts of NCF students during New Student Outreach events on over 90 campuses. Thank God for the 1101 nursing students that actively participated in NCF campus ministry this year.

Join NCF staff Bonnie Hann in praying that nursing students will view their clinical groups as their mission field and will have spiritual conversations with their classmates. Thank God for 19 students who became followers
of Jesus this year.

Ask God to strengthen new student chapters starting this fall: UNC-Charlotte, Florida Atlantic University, Johnson County Community College (KS), and South Dakota State University – Rapid City.

Please pray for Joan Thoman, NCF Faculty Advisor at Cleveland State University (Ohio), as she helps nursing students study God’s Word and builds up a core of committed student leaders in partnership with our InterVarsity staff colleagues.

PUBLICATIONS, RESOURCES AND NETWORKING

Pray for the Journal of Christian Nursing to help students, nurses and educators practice from a biblically-based, Christian perspective. Ask God to give wisdom to the editors, Kathy Schoonover-Shoffner and Cathy Walker as they prepare the next issue of JCN.

Thank God for Linda, Shelley, Bonnie and Lisa in the national office and for their efforts in communications and social media. Pray for their work to upgrade the NCF website with a new, mobile-friendly look and better functionality.

GLOBAL MINISTRY

Pray for the Global Missions Health Conference November 5-7, 2015 at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY as 3000 healthcare professionals seek God’s will for their lives and share their experiences in healthcare missions.

Pray that God will inspire the next generation of healthcare missionaries at the Urbana 15 Student Missions Conference Dec. 27-31, 2015 in St. Louis, MO. Ask God to direct nursing students to register and attend. Pray for NCF staff as we prepare resources and presentations.
