Unique Opportunity for Short-term International Teaching

Medical Education International, http://cmda.org/mei, offers a unique short-term mission opportunity for nurse educators or nurses with advanced degrees who are qualified to teach nursing internationally.  MEI is the academic short-term missions arm of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA/USA) that brings improved healthcare and the gospel through medical education, often to places where traditional missions is unwelcome. Upon invitation, MEI sends teaching teams to international academic and clinical settings, and teams often go to limited-access countries.  MEI teams are often asked to include nurses who can teach nursing students or graduate nurses. As part of her role that encourages nurses and the nursing profession in healthcare missions around the world, Grace Tazelaar, NCF Missions Director, represents NCF on the MEI Advisory Council.

Recently the Albanian Health Fund, www.albanianhealthfund.org, a similar but separate organization which focuses on Albania, has decided to expand its educational programs to include nursing. MEI is assisting the Albanian Health Fund with this effort by referring qualified nurse faculty to serve with them. The nurse lecturers can choose their specific teaching topics; however, their topics should be appealing to students and delivered in an interactive way. The mission is planned for April 19-25, 2015. Faculty members are responsible for their expenses. This trip will cost $700 plus airfare to Albania, totaling approximately $2700.

If you are interested in serving on this trip or perhaps on another MEI trip in the future, please submit a preliminary application at https://cmda.org/missions/page/mei-application and send a copy of your CV to Misty.Carter@cmda.org. MEI will keep this information on file and keep you apprised of nursing education opportunities as they arise.

If you have questions regarding MEI, feel free to contact Grace at ncf@intervarsity.org or the MEI Director at mei.director@cmda.org.
